August rainfall, averaged across the state, was slightly wetter than normal. Drier conditions in June resulted in a drier-than-normal summer statewide, ranking as the 35th driest June-August in the 108-year record.

According to the Missouri state climatologist (Dr. Adnan Akyüz), at the end of August several counties in the northwest part of the state had declared drought advisories or drought alerts.
