According to the State Climatologist (Hope Mizzell), beneficial June rains relieved the incipient drought conditions for many South Carolina counties. In late June, the SC Department of Natural Resources lifted the incipient drought declaration for many counties, but left it in place for counties reporting below normal June rainfall. These counties included Berkeley, Calhoun, Charleston, Chesterfield, Clarendon, Darlington, Dillon, Dorchester, Florence, Georgetown, Horry, Kershaw, Lee, Marion, Marlboro, Orangeburg, Sumter, and Williamsburg.
